Now is an incredible time to buy--interest rates are at an historical low, prices are as low as they are going to get--some areas are on the rise--and you have a great selection of homes although that has started to head back to normal. You've read alot about bank owned properties also know as reos and repo's as well as short sales. Having done both short sales and repos, my suggetions would be repo. Why? With bank owned homes you know the price and will get a rsponse within 3 to 4 days. I search early and late each day for my bank owned buyers and show them the best values out there in thier price range. The good bank repos go fast.
Short sales are often a shot in the dark. Many short sales take between one and 6 months for a response--sometimes never. The successful short sales tend to sell close to market but with select bank repos you can still get a GREAT BUY.
